Messy House...

It's kind of overwhelming. At least I have a 3 day weekend.

For My Mom

So I got a very urgent text from my mom today saying she NEEDS to see some more pictures of Scout! Just her luck, cause I happen to have a gazillion! At the risk of our house blog turning into a puppy blog, I'm posting some more pics. Besides, we haven't really completed anything noticeable on the house recently, so I guess I need to write about something!

Bird Watching

I put up my old cheap bird feeder last week hoping some birds would start hanging out in our backyard. It took them a little while to find it, but now it's amazing! I must have seen 10 different types of birds yesterday evening in one sitting. Since I have to take Scout out a lot, I've been spending more time just sitting on the back steps, watching the garden. This morning, a little brown bird kept hopping closer and closer to me, eating things in the vegetable garden (including pieces of dogfood) while a group of little birds with red heads ate out of the feeder. A blue bird chased away a pair of robins and some tiny birds with faux hawks waited their turn on the clothes line. I think it's time to bust out the bird book and binoculars Jose bought me many Christmas' ago (which I have yet to use...sorry). I want to draw pictures of them and learn their names.

More Garden Stuff

Today I did my annual pilgrimage to the Cabrillo horticulture departments Mother's Day plant sale with my Mom and her neighbor, Cindy. It seems to have become a tradition of my mom and mine. When I went to school there, I had to volunteer at the sale, but now it's nice to go back and load up on great plants the students have been propagating all year. Actually, I've been loading up on plants pretty steadily for the last month now, with the Going Native Garden Tour, the plant sale, my mom and all the vegetables I've been buying. By the time school's out, I should have a decent number of native plants for the front yard. I can't wait. Maybe someday our house will be on the native garden tour! Here's some picture of what I have so far.

By the way...

The baby birds hatched! Well, 2 of the 4 did, but they were laid at different times. I think they hatched about a week ago, but I didn't want to bother them by taking pictures...besides, they were just little blobs with a few scraggly feathers here and there, so it wasn't very cute. They're growing so fast. I can here them chirping right now!
